Weigh In - Week 1

Well I haven't got off to the best start on the program, feeling a little lazy this week since I've been busy.  But even just watching what I'm eating I've managed to weigh in at 69.2kg woo!

Triathlon training that was supposed to start this week has actually moved back to next week, which gives me an extra week to get used to the 12WBT program, so a good thing really!

Also we have netball finals on Saturday! A win this week will put us into the GF in a weeks time :)

Not much else to report at the moment, more to come soon :)

Final Pre-Season Task - Measure Up

So I haven't posted much since joining the 12WBT, but there have been a number of tasks that need to be completed before starting the program (which officially kicks off on Monday), the last of these tasks was released yesterday and involved taking a series of measurements so thought I'd quickly post up my starting measurements here:

Weight: 69.5 kg (this is 0.5 kg less than last week already - just from eating better this week)
Chest: 94.5 cm
Waist: 97.5 cm
Hips: 103 cm
Right Thigh: 54.5 cm
Left Thigh: 54.5 cm

The task also required me to take a photo - but there is no way I'm putting that up in public!  You'll just have to wait for the fabulous 'after' shot!

Triathlon - Am I Crazy?!?

So after a bad weekend of eating and drinking down in Melbourne this week has started off well. Last year I had thought about signing up for a novice triathlon training program, but due to my sprained ankle that idea was quickly pushed aside, the year before I didn't get a chance to sign up because I was overseas for the start of all the programs I knew of. So now I've contacted the club and it all kicks of next week - just in time for the start of the 12WBT!

The training program is hectic to say the least around 4 sessions a week of bike, run and swim....I used to swim in high school and I'm not too worried about getting back into that, but I've never really been much into riding although I do have a reasonably good bike sitting in the spare room gathering dust (might have to bring it out over the weekend), running is what I'm most worried about - put me on a playing field and I can run all day (ok well maybe for an hour or two), but running just for the 'enjoyment' of it isn't really my thing although I've always wished it was.

Anyway next tuesday night is the introduction night, should be interesting - then Thursday morning at 6am we have our first session - run oh joy lol.

The program runs for 10 weeks - so it's pretty much perfect for the 12wbt, it is supposed to conclude with the first novice triathlon on the 6th of November, but I'm already booked on a cruise over that weekend so I'll miss out - so my first official race will likely be the weekend of 17th / 18th of December which will be a 300m Swim / 11km Bike / 2km Run, the final novice triathlon of the summer is in march - 400m Swim / 15km Bike / 4km Run - so that is now my 6 month goal .

It's all a little scary but hopefully I'll be able to keep with it and achieve some good results.

Day One - It All Starts Now

Well I've done it, I just signed up for Michelle Bridges 12WBT - 12 weeks of exercising and eating the right things in front of me.

I'm not really sure how I ended up here, I mean I'm one of the most active people I know...a large majority of my time is taken up playing sport, but still I manage to be 15kgs over the weight I want to be (and 10kgs over a weight I'm 'happy' with). I know a lot of it comes down to what I put in my mouth - lets face it I do LOVE to eat....especially my fav - Pasta!...And Alcohol...yes I do enjoy the odd drink or 10!

The older I get the more my metabolism slows down - and even a week off from doing anything will add a kilo to my fluctating weight. Last year when I sprained my ankle I did almost nothing for 4 months as everything I love to do was far too painful - this lead me to a 7kg weight gain - since then I've not been able to get back in control.

But now I will get back in control - I will get to my goal weight (55kgs), and I'll be the healthy happy person that I so want to be! My experience starts today - no more excuses - I've already learnt one thing from the forums - JFDI!
